TO WALK IN AND FOLLOW THE LIGHT

Jhn 8:12 – Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Jhn 11:10 – But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.

1Jo 1:7 – But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin

We might SEE the Light….

We may REJOICE in the Light….

We may UNDERSTAND the Light…..

We may be BATHED in the Light….

We may MEDITATE on the Light….

But, until we WALK in the Light, we add no eternal substance to our lives. That eternal substance is the  life of DOING the deeds that are found in the LIGHT.

The LIGHT of God is never STATIC, it is forever PROGRESSIVE.  We must follow after the light if we are going to walk in the light.  The light leads us from the earthly natural to the heavenly spiritual.

The divine, the spiritual, the heavenly TRUTHS of the Word of God is the LIGHT.  The light of those truths show us the way that we must go from by HIM, who is the LIGHT, from this mortal existence unto the heavenly LIFE. As we advance further into the light of those truths by DOING those truths, the darkness is progressively peeled away as our eyes are progressively opened.  We then understand  that HE is the WAY, that HE is the TRUTH and HE is the LIFE.  We then become DOERS of Truth, the light and life of Jesus Christ.

To follow the LIGHT is to follow Jesus line upon line, precept upon precept until we are all built up into the head, the wisdom and knowledge of God. Christ is the wisdom of God.

Those of us who have not had a newness of understanding to dawn in upon us as a shining, revealing, manifesting truth in a long while; those of us who have not had an epiphany in a new and greater light, those of us who have not a change of opinion lately, we must check our pulse to see if we are still alive.

To walk in the Light is a progressive walk of continued regeneration until we at last stand in His presence, changed into his very image from the mortal to the immortal state.  Therefore, we have a choice.  We may continue on bound up in the darkness of preconceived dogma or we may take hold of the Light to walk in it as it comes our way.   To reject the light is to accept darkness.  Darkness is death, at long last.

Everyone of us will come to a fork in the road having two ways presented to us.  (I’ve come to several forks  one of which I will speak of here this week) Though we may halt and/or even stumble momentarily at the fork, the head of the way, we must recover ourselves to continue on in the light lest we are left behind in darkness. When this tragic choice is made, unknowingly, we will continue on in a static mode while the light that we once had in us become a little less brilliant.  Eventually the once beautiful light will turn to a beautiful and restful shade.  The shade then grows progressively darker.  The darkness of a beautiful shade grows even darker.  Sooner or later as the darkness grows, so does doubt and unbelief as divine love is abated.  Then, the next stage of that is sin and evils of life begin to gradually creep in until they take strong hold in us.  All the while, we still believe that we are the possessors of the beautiful light that we once had in our souls.  Jesus gave us this warning:

“TAKE HEED therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.” (Luke 11:35)

Some of us rejoice in the darkness assuming that it is light.  Yes, it is light to them.  Its compared to the light of owls, bats and nocturnal creatures of the night.  There is no way to convince them that they cannot see.  In truth, they do see in their darkness while believing that they see in the heavenly light of the Sun of Righteousness.

This is such a sad state for us to fall into.  Therefore, Jesus uses the words, TAKE HEED.

Notice the progressive nature of the following statement:

“TAKE HEED therefore how ye hear: for whosoever HATH, to him SHALL BE GIVEN; and whosoever hath not, FROM HIM SHALL BE TAKEN even that which he SEEMETH TO HAVE.”  {Luke 8:18)

It is imperative to follow on after the Lord to know Him, walking in the LIGHT, walking in HIM who is THE Light.  Let us walk in the heavenly Light while we have the Light lest darkness overtake us that we not even realize it until we are so imprisoned to former opinions that we become so much cemented in it until it becomes impossible to escape from it to walk on in the Light. Much of the church world is in this lamentable condition.

In view of what is said above, follow this thought very carefully:

Pro 4:18 – But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
