ICor 3:17, “If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. “
An ancient inscription was found on the wall of one of the Egyptian pyramids that reads, “You live on one third of what you eat. The doctors live on the other two thirds.”
Did you know that our bodies are the temples of the Holy Ghost, which are God’s? You don’t belong to yourself. You and I belong to God. (I Cor. 6:19). We are given the charge of HIS Tabernacle, His dwelling place. God lives in us. We glorify God or dishonor him in our bodies.
What are your thoughts or, maybe I should ask, how do you feel about the way you maintain God’s holy tabernacle? A few weeks ago God gave me a dream that shook me to the core of my being. It took me a few days to realize what he was speaking to me through the dream but when it finally dawned on me, I repented and changed my life.
Now, permit me to bore you a little:
Upon realizing what God was speaking to me from the dream, I went from nearly 240 pounds to 215. Although, I backslid somewhat around Thanksgiving and have not fully recovered from my waywardness and have gained a little of it back….but not much, I am determined to go on down to about 190 pounds.
When I married at the age of 24, my trouser size was 30″ waist by 32″ length. I will probably never return to that size.
Enough about me. Back to the subject of God’s Tabernacle, which you and I are:
God is greatly concerned as to how we maintain HIS PROPERTY. In the dream I became profoundly affected as to how we abuse, defile, mistreat, desecrate and even profane his holy dwelling place.
SUPPOSE:
Suppose you and I lived in the days of the Old Testament. If we were to walk into the old tabernacle in the wilderness or into Solomon’s temple and there to find rotting intestines from slaughtered animals lying around? How would we feel about that sight? Suppose we were to see flies all over some decaying animal skin on the floor. Let’s just suppose how God would look on all of that filthiness. Assuredly, he would not be well pleased with it no more than you and I would be well pleased to find such filthiness in our own places of dwelling. I doubt that we would live there at all.
My Confession:
II Jn 1:7, “For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ IS COME in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.”
I CONFESS that Jesus Christ IS come in MY flesh. I confess that Jesus Christ IS LIVING in me. He IS (presently) come in my body, his holy temple.
My point?
We must become good stewards of what God has trusted into our care. You and I should have a great interest in doing the very best job as is possible in the sacred duty of properly maintaining His holy tabernacle since he no longer lives in temples made of hands but he lives in you and me.
