The seven churches which were in Asia to whom John was told to write, are the seven representative churches of all ages from then until our own modern times.
Regardless of which church you may walk into today, you are walking into one of the seven churches to whom the Spirit is speaking today, even at this moment..
In each case, our Lord says that he knows their works. In each case, there is an indictment leveled against each of them, save one. In six cases, they are called upon to repent after their collective failures are made known to them.
In all cases there are promises made to those who hear the voice of the Spirit speaking to them, either collectively as a church, or individually, “He that hath an ear to hear, let him hear what the Spirit sayeth.”
Will the six churches repent or will they not repent? In either case, God speaks to each individual within those churches who can hear the voice of the Spirit to repent.
There is a record made of each church and each individual in each of the churches who can hear and repents or who cannot hear and will not repent. The record recorded in their book of lives are recorded as to their works which follow after being called upon to repent. Those books of lives will be opened at judgment to which each church collectively under the leadership of their leaders (the stars in His right hand) who will be called on to give an account of their lives juxtaposed to the record found in “another book” which will also be opened at judgment from out of which all judgment will follow.
Will they hear the voice of the Spirit and repent or will they NOT hear the voice of the Spirit and DO NOT repent? The book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ is a prophecy concerning each of the churches and/or each individual in those churches who are able to hear the voice of the Spirit and who by their works show themselves as obedient to the call of the Spirit.
